Already purchased an instant-download murder mystery game but would prefer a professionally printed boxed kit? Upgrade your existing My Mystery Party download to the corresponding Boxed Kit (Party Pack) without purchasing the complete game again.

Our staff will professionally print and prepare the physical game materials for your selected title and character count. Choose the Spoiler-Free option to have the spoiler-containing clue cards (Rounds 1, 2, and 3) placed inside their corresponding envelopes, allowing the host to prepare for the event while avoiding the mystery’s biggest secrets.

Important: You must have previously purchased the downloadable version of the game or hold an active commercial license. Orders without an eligible previous purchase will be canceled.

Who Is Eligible to Upgrade?

You previously purchased the instant-download version of the selected game from My Mystery Party.
You currently hold an active commercial license for the selected game.
You are upgrading the same game and compatible edition previously purchased.

This upgrade does not provide an additional game license. It transfers your existing standard license from the downloadable format to the physical boxed-kit format.

How to Upgrade Your Download

Select the game you are upgrading from the menu above.
Select the correct character count and available expansion packs.
Choose whether you want standard or spoiler-free
Enter your previous order number and the complete game title in the Custom Comments field during checkout.

Your upgrade order should automatically connect to your previous download purchase. However, including the original order number and game title is strongly recommended, particularly if you have purchased multiple games.

If your game is not listed in the dropdown menu, email support@mymysteryparty. We can generally add an eligible game to the list within 24 hours.

Upgrade Pricing

The base upgrade for an 8-character Party Ready kit is $74.00
Larger kits are priced according to the number of characters and volume of printed materials.
Boxed kits average approximately $10 to $11 per player, although the price varies by game and included components.
A $5 administrative fee is included with each upgrade.
Each added expansion pack also includes an additional $2 administrative fee.

The upgrade price generally reflects the difference between the corresponding boxed kit and the downloadable game, plus the applicable administrative fee(s). The original download is not separately refunded because the purchase is being transferred to a different format.

Example: If a 15-player boxed kit retails for $150 and the previously purchased download was $50, the upgrade would cost $105, which includes the $5 administrative fee.

Expansion Pack Requirements

Expansion packs must match the edition of the upgraded main game.
Expansion packs are added in numerical order.
We cannot prepare an expansion pack without the preceding pack being prepared.
Review the corresponding boxed-kit product page for current character lists, kit sizes, and available expansions before ordering.
Do not combine physical expansion materials with a different downloadable edition.

Your Game License

Upgrading transfers your existing single-use game license from the downloadable version to the physical boxed version. It does not grant permission to host the game twice or provide both formats as separate licensed games.

My Mystery Party games have a fixed storyline and solution and are licensed for one private, noncommercial event. If you intend to host the game more than once, charge admission, use it for business purposes, or present it at a public event, purchase the appropriate commercial license.

Do Not Combine the Two Formats

The downloadable and boxed versions are maintained separately and may differ in formatting, appearance, bonus activities, menu suggestions, and revision dates. After upgrading, use the complete boxed version for your event rather than combining materials from both formats.

Boxed kits contain general mystery-party menu suggestions and bonus games. Some titles may also include access to an additional website featuring activities, menus, or do-it-yourself ideas. These extras may differ from those included with the original download.

Special Pricing for Large-Group Games

The downloadable versions of the Harrison House and Stratford Castle games include 75 characters. If you upgrade to a smaller boxed kit, only the downloadable value associated with the selected number of characters is deducted.

75-player upgrade: $734.95 boxed-kit price minus $112.95 downloadable value, plus the $5 administrative fee = $627
50-player upgrade: $484.95 boxed-kit price minus $75.30 downloadable value, plus the $5 administrative fee = $414.65
30-player upgrade: $284.95 boxed-kit price minus $45.18 downloadable value, plus the $5 administrative fee = $244.77

Your boxed kit arrives professionally printed and prepared for easy hosting. The exact quantity of materials varies depending on the selected kit size.

Host Instructions, including the standard host booklet and a game-specific information sheet
Professionally Printed Game Materials
Character Materials, including the Host Character List, Guest List, and Clue Cards
Solution Materials
Envelopes and Other Required Game Components
Optional Extras, such as the free invitation
Envelopes are not sealed, even in the spoiler-free kits, in case the host needs to view the cards. Sealing envelopes before gameplay is optional.
Select games may also include video content, bonus clues, or other interactive extras. Any game-specific extras will be listed above under Interactive Extras.

Some light assembly may be required with the standard version. For a spoiler-free, party-ready game, select the appropriate kit option above.

Standard vs. Spoiler-Free Assembly

Standard Version

The standard version requires light assembly before the party. The host must fold and insert the cards for Rounds 1, 2, and 3 into the corresponding labeled envelopes.

Spoilers are limited to the Round 2 and Round 3 card bundles. If the host wishes to avoid seeing them, a trusted person who is not playing may fold and insert those cards. The remaining kit will still arrive prepared without exposing the host to spoilers.

Spoiler-Free Version

With the Spoiler-Free (Party-Ready) Preparation Option, the Round 1, 2, and 3 clue & solution cards are professionally folded and inserted into their designated envelopes, allowing the host to prepare for and host the party without any fear of viewing the spoiler content.

Pre-game character materials are not inserted into envelopes. This allows the host to add the players' contact information on the task cards while they are still arranged in a convenient stack, rather than removing them from envelopes and reinserting them afterward.

Included Assembly in Both Versions

Certain materials are inserted into their designated envelopes in every boxed kit, when applicable. These may include:

Blackmail notes and other special messages
Victim signs
Forensic reports
Scavenger hunt materials
Other game-specific surprise items

Keep each bundle of envelopes together according to its label, such as Round 1, Round 2, or Round 3. Some envelopes may already contain game-specific materials, even when the remaining cards still require insertion.

With the standard kit, if an item has already been placed inside a designated character’s envelope, tuck it inside that character’s folded clue card before returning the card to the envelope. This helps ensure the player sees the additional item when the round begins.

Envelopes Are Not Sealed

Envelopes are left unsealed in both versions. This allows the host to review or adjust the materials if necessary, such as when a guest cancels at the last minute, and the host needs to confirm that all vital characters remain assigned.

The host may seal the envelopes before gameplay, but sealing is optional.

Big Ripoff

Ripoff!! Ordered a box for Christmas present and never received! Only a down load version and now want more money for boxed set. Reporting to BBB.

The Grand Gatsby

Maybe it was because it was the first time we played a murder mystery game or maybe it was my fault as the host or maybe it was the game itself but we could not figure out how to end the game. The instructions seemed very convoluted to us. For the price of this game I think it should have been better. We had 8 people playing; the minimum needed, and it definetely would have been better with more people. We had fun anyway because dressing up, eating and drinking is always fun but I don't think I would recommend this game and I don't think I will be doing this again.

Really Fun Ravenwood Murder Mystery

We did the Ravenwood Masquerade Murder Mystery for my friend's bachelorette party. Everyone had a blast getting into character and collecting clues!!! My only criticism was that is was somewhat obvious who the "optional" characters were as they didn't have as much to do as the main characters. In the future, I would probably just make sure to buy a set that had exactly the right amount of required characters. Everyone still had a great time though!

We escaped from the room, identified our host and solved the murder!!!!!!

What a great time we had this New Year's Eve! This is our third murder mystery from My Murder Mystery and we have enjoyed them all. The toga and pirate parties provided the most fun with costumes. The escape room was a great twist for us this time. Everyone used the color in their name to inspire their costume. Bobby Blue was a great prankster throughout the night. I broke the group into 2 teams for the escape room and they enjoyed comparing their times.

Great decision

Decided to upgrade my download and it was the best decision ever.
Materials came packed neatly, professional and they are not what you can do at home.
Cannot wait for my party.
