Talent-Show Mystery Party Game Synopsis:

The Mystic Falls Talent Show is only days away, and talented contestants are traveling from around the world to compete in the awe-inspiring competition. Among the many prizes, the winner will earn a coveted spot as a contestant on the hit television series World Talent Search.

Unfortunately, Mr. Black, the contest organizer, has endured a wave of suspicious mayhem. Talent-show announcements have vanished from message boards, the event’s website and social-media accounts have been hacked, and the local newspaper has even published an article claiming the competition was canceled.

A mischievous saboteur clearly does not want the show to go on. You are one of the contestants, and you have spent the entire year perfecting your talent routine. Now, you must investigate your rivals, uncover hidden motives, and help identify the culprit before the saboteur destroys everyone’s chance to perform. This is where your story begins.

Player Information:
  • Main Game: 16 unique suspect characters
    • 8 characters are required, and 8 are optional.
    • All character roles are gender-flexible.
    • There are no expansion packs or expandable teams for this game.

This mystery has no murder or victim. Guests investigate who has been sabotaging the Mystic Falls Talent Show.

The live talent competition is an important part of the event. Because every contestant may perform, expanding the game beyond 16 players could make the party excessively long.

Guests don't need professional talent. Performances may be simple, funny, creative, dramatic, or intentionally ridiculous, depending on the group’s comfort level.

So fun!

Did this with eight 11-13 year olds for a lunch birthday party. All the kids got into it. It flowed very smoothly. Had an adult be the host (to move things along and keep order). The talent show portion was high laughs. Would totally recommend!

The Complete Package

We did this mystery as a Zoom fundraiser. It was a fun and exciting challenge. I will be using this to engage my friends in an alternative way to gather for a fun time.

Good family fun

We did this For my niece’s tenth birthday party with the family ranging from 6-75 year olds. I should have taken more time to prepare and let everyone know their characters before hand. But even with the lack of preparation it was still a lot of fun.
I would recommend this as a great interactive group activity for all ages!

Fun virtual night with the family

We did the Talent Show Mystery with our family of 12 spread across three states. The youngest participant was 5 and the oldest 72! Everyone had a lot of fun, and people really got into their characters and love participating in the talent show. Because we tweaked it to be virtual, some things were lost (like the idiosyncratic tendencies of the characters) and sometimes we had to veer away from natural conversations to just sharing our clues because it was too hard to hear if too many people were talking. That said, it was a lot of fun to plan and even more fun to play!

My daughter and her friends (11-12) loved it. The suggested extra games were a nice bonus.

Fun, but had some issues

We had done the fairy tale one previously and it was fantastic. Decided to try turmoil at the talent show for my 11 year old daughter's party. We did it all in the party time - each chose a character from a hat, I read the description and they chose from a bunch of props and dress ups that I already had and dumped on the table.
Pros: They loved hearing each other's character names and descriptions and really got into character.
It helped the girls who didn't know each other to mix.
The video intro was fun
They really enjoyed the whole concept, trying to solve the mystery (but didn't really take enough notice of the evidence, instead made guesses related to character traits.)
It went for a good amount of time - they could get all the clues shared before losing interest, and breaking it up into rounds was good.
We ran out of time to do a proper talent show (skipped the first 'act' entirely and ate then instead) but we did a fast one at the very end where i gave them a 1 minute limit and they could go in groups and they all thought it was fun. However, they would have liked it more if I'd given them practice time, but that was my time management mistake (too much fun in the pool beforehand...!!!)
Good that the guilty party doesn't know it's them so that they can play.
A good level for their age group. Only one got it right, I think that's because she was the only one who really looked at the evidence and didn't second-guess everything! Nobody minded though because it made sense to them when they found out and they had heaps of fun having a go.
Cons: I kind of re-wrote the round one clues: 1. to take away the 'conceal if you want' part as it is too confusing for kids and better if they just share everything. 2. We are Australian and some of the American bits/places wouldn't make sense to our girls. 3. I totally rewrote some parts to make the motives really clear/give a motive as they weren't written very well or clearly for 11 year olds.
Some of the mini-games weren't written properly - headings didn't match instructions. I worked it out because the games aren't new and I only had time to use one anyway, it just comes across a bit unprofessional.
Overall it was good and the girls really enjoyed it, but it was less well written and so less clear than the fairy tale one. No-one died though which was good for their age group.
The girls had a great time so I'd still recommend it.

Awesome Game!

I used this for a summer camp evening activity. Each cabin group was their own character. It went really well, everyone had fun, and all of the details included were perfect. I would highly recommend it.

Great fun for a tween bday party!

We used this kit for my 12 year olds birthday party, it was perfect! Download it early as it lays out an entire 3 hr party. No planning needed. Even invitations were included!

10th Birthday Party

My daughter wanted to take her friends to an escape room, but they can be tough for 9 and 10 year olds. So I began my search for some sort of mystery themed party. I came across MyMysteryParty, what a fantastic discovery! I decided on Turmoil at the Talent Show since the the guests were a mix of boys and girls. They enjoyed solving the mystery and putting on a talent show. With minimal decorations and the downloaded game, it was super easy to put together and enjoy the party with the kids.
