Outplay the competition, survive the Purge Trials, and claim the coveted golden toilet tissue in Surviving Quarantine, a high-energy video chat challenge game designed for Zoom, Google Meet, Microsoft Teams, and other video-chat platforms.

This is a clean, family-friendly, non-murder and non-roleplaying game. Players compete for the hidden Immunity Icon, form alliances, vote during the Purge Trials, and attempt to become the final survivor. Players who are voted out are given new responsibilities and remain involved throughout the game.

Hosting note: The host may compete as a player while also acting as the executive producer of the show. However, this dual role is best suited for an organized host who is already comfortable managing the selected video-chat platform.

The optional pre-game website and player packet introduce the competition and include the first challenge for locating the hidden Immunity Icon.

Challenge Game Synopsis

An upcoming reality television show, Surviving Quarantine, is preparing to film its first season. An eclectic group of contestants will compete as members of two rival factions: the Lockdown Legends and the Home Alone Hotshots. Alliances will be formed and broken as players face challenges, search for hidden advantages, and attempt to avoid elimination during the Purge Trials.

At the center of the competition is the game-changing Immunity Icon, a coveted roll of golden toilet tissue that protects its owner from being voted out.  You are one of the fortunate contestants selected for the show. You have been studying trivia, practicing your balance, and sharpening your memory skills in preparation for the competition.

You have no idea what the executive producer has planned, but you intend to survive every challenge and become the final player standing. This is where your game begins.

How the Game Works:

Before the event, the host sends each player the pre-game packet and contact information needed to complete the opening challenge. During gameplay, the host follows the Host Game Packet while presenting the video, graphics, challenges, and Purge Trials in the correct order.

The game contains six rounds of competition. Players work with their factions, compete individually, form alliances, search for immunity, and vote during the Purge Trials. Being voted out does not remove a player from the game, as eliminated players receive new duties and continue participating.

What Is Included?

  • Host instruction file with video-chat hosting directions, player instructions, optional bonus activities, and an abbreviated event timeline
  • Host Game Packet containing the executive producer's scripted dialogue, challenge instructions, voting procedures, and round-by-round guidance
  • Pre-game player packet provided as a PDF file for the host to send to each player before the event
  • Six rounds of gameplay featuring team challenges, individual competitions, strategy, immunity, and Purge Trials
  • Hidden Immunity Icon challenge beginning before the event
  • Solution key that allows the host to compete without learning the challenge answers in advance
  • Host website with game graphics that may be screen-shared during the event
  • Approximately 13-minute game video that guides the players through the competition alongside the Host Game Packet. (The host will pause it between challenges.)
  • Private video access through YouTube, Vimeo, or the game website
  • Free printable invitation
  • Free pre-game website

Technology note: The host must be able to screen-share or play the game video through the selected video-chat platform and pause it at the designated points. Using one device for the video call and a second device for viewing game materials can make gameplay easier, but it is not required.

Group Size and Playing Time

Surviving Quarantine is designed for a maximum of 12 players and does not currently have an expansion pack or spectator file.

The number of players directly affects the length of the game. Smaller groups may finish in approximately 1.5 hours, while groups of 12 may require approximately 3.5 hours. The host may use the provided options to accelerate gameplay or divide the game into multiple sessions.
