Kids Pirate Mystery Party Game Synopsis:
Late one foggy night on the open sea, the helmsman of the ominous pirate ship known as The Black Cloud accidentally steered the vessel into a massive rock. Jolly Flintlocker, the ship’s talented carpenter, examined the damage and estimated that repairing the ship would take at least eight long months.
Soon after the disaster, Cap’n Swashbuckler received exciting news about Captain Bootstrap Bluebeard of the S.S. Treasure Hunter. Bluebeard had grown tired of life on the open sea and planned to abandon his pirate ways to live among the dreaded landlubbers. Before retiring, the legendary captain announced a challenge for the most experienced pirate crews sailing the seas.
Captain Bluebeard has created seven pirate mysteries aboard his vessel. The first crew clever enough to solve them all will earn ownership of the S.S. Treasure Hunter and the legendary treasures hidden within. The crew of The Black Cloud must investigate the clues, complete scavenger hunts, solve Bluebeard’s riddles, and prove they are worthy of claiming the ultimate pirate prize.

We bought this pack for our son's 10th birthday party and overall were disappointed. It involves a lot of preparation work with cutting clues up and putting them into envelopes, and ultimately we found that the mystery answers were beyond what children of this age would know, such as Jack Bluefellow, Davey Jones' Locker, Rowdy'. They enjoyed the scavenger hunt but the mystery part really fell flat. The games suggested at the end were good and the fly swat + balloon game was one of the highlights. Overall I don't think this one is worth the money.
I adapted the library program for a group of 26 tweens (kids aged 9-12). They needed some extra support, such as sharing the clues after each round, but I'm happy to say many were able to solve the puzzles! I also had teen volunteers act out the pirate parts, and they loved it. All around it was a great program and we all had a good time.
They had a blast.
I created my own invitations by scrolling a piece of parchment in a bottle with some sand. I closed it with a cork and tied some jute around the neck. The boys loved it!
We played all side activities and it took about 3 hours, stopping for pirate pizza.
All in all - we'd do it over and the boys are asking for the next. Instructions easy to follow - you'll have to cut out some stuff and prepare a scavenger hunt, but it was pretty easy.
This is the first product review I’ve even given. Purchased this for my son’s birthday party. I found the instructions to be very complicated. So much so that after reviewing it with two other adults (with advanced degrees), we couldn’t easily figure out the mystery that the kids were trying to solve. In the end, we didn’t use. I contacted customer service the same day to inquire about a refund and was informed against their policy. I was so excited to use this and ultimately created my own the day before the event. Sorry not more positive!
