Hatter’s Ball Murder Mystery Game Synopsis:
The neighborhood socialites have touted the Hatter’s Ball as the bash of the year in the isolated town of Bloodworth Falls. Mayor Riley White has organized the event at the old Bloodwood Castle as a diversion from the scandals that have plagued the town in recent months. Of course, it’s no coincidence that the ball is scheduled right before the upcoming mayoral election.
The mayor posted the invitation list online, and your adversaries have already submitted their RSVPs. You’re intrigued and have decided you cannot miss this opportune moment to seek revenge on those who have crossed you in the past. Now, you are on the hunt for the perfect hat. This is where your story begins.

Standard vs. Spoiler-Free Assembly
Standard Version
The standard version requires light assembly before the party. The host must fold and insert the cards for Rounds 1, 2, and 3 into the corresponding labeled envelopes.
Spoilers are limited to the Round 2 and Round 3 card bundles. If the host wishes to avoid seeing them, a trusted person who is not playing may fold and insert those cards. The remaining kit will still arrive prepared without exposing the host to spoilers.
Spoiler-Free Version
With the Spoiler-Free (Party-Ready) Preparation Option, the Round 1, 2, and 3 clue & solution cards are professionally folded and inserted into their designated envelopes, allowing the host to prepare for and host the party without any fear of viewing the spoiler content.
Pre-game character materials are not inserted into envelopes. This allows the host to add the players' contact information on the task cards while they are still arranged in a convenient stack, rather than removing them from envelopes and reinserting them afterward.
Included Assembly in Both Versions
Certain materials are inserted into their designated envelopes in every boxed kit, when applicable. These may include:
- Blackmail notes and other special messages
- Victim signs
- Forensic reports
- Scavenger hunt materials
- Other game-specific surprise items
Keep each bundle of envelopes together according to its label, such as Round 1, Round 2, or Round 3. Some envelopes may already contain game-specific materials, even when the remaining cards still require insertion.
With the standard kit, if an item has already been placed inside a designated character’s envelope, tuck it inside that character’s folded clue card before returning the card to the envelope. This helps ensure the player sees the additional item when the round begins.
Envelopes Are Not Sealed
Envelopes are left unsealed in both versions. This allows the host to review or adjust the materials if necessary, such as when a guest cancels at the last minute, and the host needs to confirm that all vital characters remain assigned.
The host may seal the envelopes before gameplay, but sealing is optional.

I paid for and received the put 26 package but there was no description of the characters after the 18. I have the envelope for the extra characters but can’t send the character descriptions to my guests. I emailed about this a week ago and never received a reply.
I have to tell you that I threw two parties with this set, one for my friends and another for the residents at the complex I manage and both parties were a HUGE hit! Each party we had 21-25 players and while very different groups of people and levels of preparation for the participants everyone just raved about how well put together it was and how much fun they had. (I'll take a little bit of the credit, but really MyMysteryMystery really makes it so easy for you to pull it together.) For my friends we went for it all the way and planned it 3-4 weeks in advance and everyone was in full costumes and it was really just the most amazing night, that even as the host I was able to play right along with and have as much fun as everyone else.
Tip: I did task each of the games, before/during game readings to different people, so I could just have it all set up beforehand and not be responsible all night for our activities and giving the information. Just make sure you give clear direction on when each of their parts takes place. Ex. immediately after the victim is revealed, etc. Everyone loved the added extra level of involvement and I got to enjoy more, especially since I'm not one who likes to be the center of attention.
The second party was for a much younger crowd of single 22-35yr olds who most guests didn't know each other besides in passing vs our middle aged married group of friends. I didn't do character assignments until 2 days before the event for those who registered early and many were assigned the day of. So the costumes weren't very elaborate, but it didn't matter one bit. Honestly I was blown away how much everyone gushed about what a fun time they had, even without it being elaborate. The second time I took on a made up detective roll and solely hosted. I wish I could upload pictures because we really went all out on the décor, which I was able to reuse for my second event.
I'd say for both games we had about 40-55% who guessed who doneit, which was good for a very social setting.
Murder mysteries are the best way to get a large group of people together. It's also fun to assign characters to people who have the absolute opposite characteristics in real life, so that they can truly be someone else for an evening.
This box was large enough to accommodate exactly the amount of people I needed and everyone was extremely happy with their characters. Inventive and entertaining.
This is the sixth murder mystery my friends and I have done. This one was a lot of fun!! It was easy to follow and great for first timers to get into character. We bought the ready made box this time and loved it. Very nicely put together and took the work out of it.
