Grillin', Chillin', Killin': Murder Mystery Party Game

I decided the game into 3 days.
Day 1 we did the pregame and part 1
Day 2 was part 2
Day 3 part 3
Make sure everyone keeps their notes for reference.

I needed one more character so I made a TWIN neighbors to stalk characters.
Everyone loved being in character.

Compared to the other games I have purchased, the set up was a bit different.

Their other games seem to give players more direct prompts as well as character development.
It seems that this game is more character development, so some of my younger players weren't sure of what to do and needed a bit of extra assist.
Overall, great game, good times.

The mysteries are great. I have ordered and downloaded several from your site. The contents are easy to follow and I love the expansion option.

Overall, the content/party was pretty good! I do wish I had a little more information to start with so I could banter a little better beforehand. Some of the info didn't come out to everyone during the party, either, despite talking to each other.

We did this game with a 50/50 mix of experienced and new players. It worked wonderfully and everyone had a great time!

I love all the murder mysteries I have purchased. I use them at work as a group activity and everyone loves them They dress up according to their character and get right into it. I purchased both of the expansion packs to have enough characters. Each time I have had one more and more people sign up! We are going to be grilling out and making a full afternoon of it.

The instructions were clear and easy to follow, this was our first murder mystery at the library. We weren't able to hand out the character packets until everyone arrived but it all went very well, no problems at all. We will be doing this again as all the kids had a great time. We are looking for one to do at Halloween.

Hi, I like to read the reviews before I choose but can you block out spoilers? Like the gender of the victim?

We played the game with 11 players. As we only had 9 players commited to the game, I bought a game with only 8 required players as the reviews said the optional players didn't realize they were optional. So, three of the players in our game were optional and those three were very quiet. They didn't fell like they were contributing very much to the story and by round 2 didn't really talk or interact much even when approached by other players. Two of them were gung ho to play, one (my husband), not so much, so their lack or participation wasn't a lack of willingness or interest for at least two of them. (But it freed my husband up to grill food for the dinner). The required players, however, had a blast. Only one person actually guessed the murderer (Difficulty rating was a 5 out of 10). That said, the clues were there for the people who really talked to everyone.

I handed out the pre-game cards to the players and we had a blast with it. People were texting each other individually and in a group chat and creating backstories just based on their descriptions and card instructions. It was hysterical and lots of fun. Although, most of us had to turn off the notification on text messages as they were constantly going off and interrupting the work day. One person hadn't read the instructions yet and was upset by the text he received which the other player continued in the same vein for 45 minutes further upsetting the guy until his wife told him what was going on. Listening to the story after the fact was worth the game.

NOTE: I had everyone bring an appetizer or dessert and I made salads the night before and we grilled chicken. I highly recommend a simple, easy menu or ordering food in as my husband felt missed parts of the game while he was at the grill.

The group wants to play another game.

I highly recommend the game and gave it only 4 stars because of the issue with the optional players.

Not complicated. Didnt require a lot of prep. Fun. A good intro mystery to get into the groove of hosting them.

I bought this for my son's 16th birthday. They had such a great time. They had to talk and interact with each other. No one was on their cell phones. They laughed and laughed at each other as they played out the different roles and tried to guess who did it. No one guessed who the killer was, it was a total surprise. We will do more games like this in the future.

Even the victim had fun! (We had her talk in a ghostly voice so she could still contribute.) The storyline was interesting, the clues were good but not too easy. All 12 adults got into their character, and some heated discussions occurred, but the 3 children present knew it was a game and played happily in another room. Delightful afternoon! I like that the nonessential characters never knew they were!

The materials are great. The party was great. The support form mymysteryparty was great.
