Murder Mystery Party Game Synopsis:

Over the past century, the Ethos Realm has grown increasingly disordered and tumultuous. Relationships between its six kingdoms have deteriorated as royal families battle over territory, power, ancient grievances, and disputed claims to the throne. Now, the impending marriage between House Langstone and House Tyrele has created renewed hope for peace and unity.

Queen Crestian Langstone has invited the royal families of the Ethos Realm to the Castle of Westerfell for a grand celebration on the night before her son’s wedding. The guest list includes queens, princesses, warriors, knights, mages, royal commanders, and members of houses that have been enemies for generations.

Curiously, several invited guests were previously banished from Westerfell or fled the kingdom in fear for their lives. Nevertheless, they have accepted the queen’s summons and agreed to return. Some believe Queen Crestian is sincerely extending an olive branch to her former foes. Others suspect the gathering may be part of a dangerous scheme devised by the ruthless House of Langstone. Behind the royal finery, old grudges are resurfacing, secret alliances are forming, and powerful guests are preparing to make their moves.

You have received a royal summons to the celebration at the Castle of Westerfell. Will the wedding unite the six kingdoms, or will the gathering plunge the Ethos Realm into chaos? This is where your story begins.

First time being involved in a murder mystery party. I hosted 20 friends and we all had a BLAST. 10/10 would recommend or 5/5 in this case. It took us 3 hours to complete and we could have speeded it up or added bonus activities to slow it down. Everyone was engaged. We had a few people that preferred it to be assigned characters so they played detectives and pirates (to support one of the King’s roles). Everyone was asking when the next party will be. We will definitely host again through this site.

A few details for those who wonder about game play. Clue cards are distributed at the beginning of 3 rounds. The game gives information for each character to tell to others and specific instruction to tell specific characters information. It would be super helpful to wear name tags, have the characters introduce themselves and get into their family grouping. There is not a script or narrater. The information is a lot at first, but the clues are reiterated so you do t miss anything important. The host will be able to play the game without knowing who the victim or murderer are if that is what they wish. Also, the murder happens during the game, which was really fun. The victim is able to continue to play and try to solve their murder as a ghost, but ours just walked around and heckled everyone after their murder.

Interesting to play. Difficult to set up without seeing details, so had to ask someone to set up for me. A lot of complicated people and place names, so took quite a bit of time to get into it, even for those who have watched the TV show. 3/10 got the murderer correct.

Tons of fun!!

This game was great!!! All of my guests had fun playing it. The only problem is that there wasn’t enough male characters for my party. And I didn’t want to have to buy another expansion pack just to get a couple more male roles.

We have been hosting My Mystery Party murders every Christmas for a few years now. So last August we just couldn't wait & decided to play A Game of Crowns on a hot Summer night. Many were fans of a certain fantasy tale with a similar name, but this game worked well even for those who had not followed that other story. I found it more difficult to prepare materials without peeking at this particular game, so I had to email mymysteryparty with questions several times. As always I received patient, clear, helpful & above all prompt replies. For our next adventure, my family is looking for a game where the murder has already occurred, so we will be choosing Last Will & Testament. You can't beat My Mystery Party for variety & choice. We will keep this party going for years to come!

Teens had a great time with this medieval mystery

I chose Game of Crowns for my daughter's surprise 15th birthday party. This was the first time I've ever had anything to do with a murder mystery party, and I had one week to prepare it. The kit was easy to use and the instructions were clear enough for this first-timer to pull off a successful party. I had a couple questions and Nancy responded immediately to my emails -- at night. It was great to feel like I'd be able to get an answer quickly if anything else came up.

The girls were all very excited about the party, and they all had a great time. It was challenging for them to figure out the entire situation (the age range seems about right), but they got it sorted out, although only one guessed the murderer correctly. I was glad that it was challenging enough for smart 15-year-olds without being risqué or off-color. It was fun to see them get used to their roles and to hear them start talking with each other in character.

My only little disappointment was that I couldn't help seeing who the murderer was as I prepared the clues. Also, I had to buy an expansion pack to have roles that seemed to fit everyone, but it was still worth the price.

I debated between this mystery and a more established and popular one, but I chose this one because it was more in line with my daughter's interests, and I'm very glad I did -- it was perfect. We're all looking forward to finding another excuse to have another murder mystery party before too long, and it will definitely be from this site.
