Non-Murder Mystery Party Game Synopsis:
Ms. Cornelia Crimson has stolen something from you that you hold very dear to your heart.
You may not have noticed the item is missing yet, but Ms. Crimson assures you that you will discover what she has taken soon enough. She claims she is willing to return your treasured possession, but only if you journey to her castle on Dismal Lane and earn the right to reclaim it. You are not the only person who has received this disturbing invitation. Ms. Crimson has assembled an unusual collection of guests and secretly planted a spy among them.
Throughout the evening, the group must complete a series of challenging physical, intellectual, and teamwork-based competitions. Successful challenges will earn valuable clues that may reveal the identity of the planted spy. The guest who correctly identifies the saboteur will have the stolen item returned and become the heir or heiress of the Crimson estate. Those who guess incorrectly will never recover their treasured possessions. It is a steep penalty, but Ms. Crimson has never been known for her generosity.
You have received an exclusive invitation to the castle on Dismal Lane. Will you accept the challenge and expose the spy? This is where your story begins.

I've hosted many murder mystery parties and this was an engaging and easy-to-prep one that two mixed-age (ages 8-50) families enjoyed. We loved that it was clean and silly without being super cheesy. I do wish that the solution had been printed on a completely different page so it was easier NOT to see it if you were hosting and also prepping, but to be fair, there were several warnings and the option to have them prep it (this option is quite pricey, however). Just be VERY careful if you are hosting and playing to look for the STOP. I am a speed reader and had a hard time stopping my eyes when I was skimming everything for instructions. You will use LOTS of envelopes! I would also recommend not having guests take notes on their clue sheets because they end up turning them in to vote for the spy each round and we didn't think that through as we were jotting down notes through the session. Overall, it was a well-organized and flexible way for two families to gather so I am happy with my purchase!
This was a great evening… the spy was difficult to figure out… so everyone was amazed when 1 guest figured it out..
Our high school students have enjoyed using the mystery games twice now. The game comes with suggested challenges within the game that don't really have anything to do with the theme of the game itself. Because these challenges are not revealed to you prior to purchase, are mentioned on the character's clue cards and because they weren't really appropriate for our event at which we were playing the game, I found the challenges to be frustrating. These team challenges included keeping your balloon afloat, performing a skit, and passing a banana to the end of a line and peeling it the fastest with your feet.
Both games have been well organized with directions and easily printable materials.

There was a HIGH level of excitement as we introduced the game to our group for New Years. We decorated the house as suggested, dressed according to our character and paid attention to all of the details. We watched the trailer 2 days before the game and everyone was really into it!
HOWEVER, it was A LOT of work. It took a whole day for us to read through everything. It was a lot of prep.
And then the game... none of us guessed the spy. The clues were very weak. After all of the excitement, prep and build up, it was kind of a big let down at the end.
We loved the idea of this, but were all disappointed with the ending. We were all kinda like "huh?"at the end.
We all felt that there should have been more media to watch throughout the game... kind of like how the game was introduced to the group by watching the trailer. It would have been fun to watch clips and hear directions by watching a video, instead of the host having to explain and run everything. It was A LOT of work for the host.
