Catch a Killer: The Murder of Abigail Ross is an immersive, Sherlock-level murder mystery case file game.

This is not a roleplaying game. There are no characters to assign, costumes to wear, or scripts to perform. Instead, you will step into the role of renowned criminal psychologist Dr. Casey Gold and analyze a complete case file containing police documents, forensic evidence, witness interrogations, telephone records, social media posts, videos, and more.

Murder Mystery Synopsis

Have you ever wanted to assist a homicide detective with a nationally publicized murder investigation? This is your opportunity to step into the shoes of Dr. Casey Gold, a leading criminal psychologist and director of the FBI’s Behavioral Analysis Unit.

Detective Philip Chapman of the Nevermore Police Department has requested your immediate assistance. Twenty-five-year-old Abigail Evelyn Ross was found murdered inside her home, and the case has attracted international media attention. Despite investigating eleven witnesses with connections to the victim, Detective Chapman has encountered roadblocks at every turn.

It is now the critical 48-hour mark following the murder. As each hour passes, the likelihood of finding the killer decreases. You must examine the evidence, analyze the witnesses, identify contradictions, reconstruct the timeline, and determine who murdered Abigail Ross. Can you solve the case before the killer gets away?

Content Advisory

This game is recommended for ages 16 and up due to its difficulty and mature case details. The storyline contains violence associated with a murder investigation, cult activity, and references to alcohol.

This non-roleplaying case file game may be played solo, on a date night, with a small group, or as a large investigative event. There is no fixed player limit because everyone shares access to the same case materials. However, if you did not opt to have us make additional copies for your kit and are playing with a large group of ~15 or more, you should make copies of the printed documents for each round for your party.

Play solo as Dr. Casey Gold.
Work together as one investigative team. Appoint one player as Dr. Gold, with the remaining players serving as Dr. Gold’s colleagues at the FBI’s Behavioral Analysis Unit (BAU). Although this is a non-roleplaying game, establishing a hierarchy can add structure to the investigation.
Divide into smaller teams and compete to solve the case. Aim for no more than four players per document or make copies of the printed case files.
Choose how to submit final deductions. Individual players or teams may submit separate conclusions, or everyone can collaborate in an open group discussion and agree on whodunit together.

Mind-bending Fun--both alone and with others!

I bought this game to try out this company's mysteries alone because I'm planning to host a mystery party soon, and wanted to make sure these would be a good party choice. The instructions, videos, and printed evidence were all top-notch, and the story was very detailed and immersive! I ended up inviting a friend to do this one with me, and we had an amazing time over the course of three days looking at all the evidence, making timelines, and discussing theories! We spent time alone going through everything but we also met up in person and talked about it on the phone. I really loved the flexibility of being able to solve this mystery either alone or with others, and it was so great I will definitely be buying more! I will say that the "Sherlock" challenge level is probably not what I'll choose for a larger party, but it was perfect for getting deeply immersed in a few days of mind-bending fun!

Fun New Years Eve Group Activity

The packet organization was a bit confusing for me. I think the download file had 34 pages.

Clickable links would have been helpful. I thought the file was broken, but no just need to scroll for days.

There were 6 solving the case. We began as teams, but members fell away.

4 of us solved as a team. Took about 3 hours.

Excellent Storyline and quite the mystery

Having just got into murder mysteries, my boyfriend and I are consuming everything we can. We happened upon the case of Abagail Ross and were instantly intrigued by the content; fingerprint and trace evidence reports, video interviews, call logs! Oooh we shall indeed step up our murder mystery game and boy did we. By the end we felt like veteran detectives trying to solve the case because the chief is breathing down our necks to “get it done!”. We did and we brought that poor girl justice. Overall excellent game, super and unexpectedly immersive and definitely entertaining ( easily 10+ hours for the advanced players; took us 3 days)! Definitely recommend!!! 10/10!

This was really fun to do. A good date night game. I will get more of them.

Enjoyed playing this game. My boyfriend and I wanted to try playing again together after doing 'The Nevermore Strangler' catch a killer with friends. Our only complaint is that details of the suspects ( their height to be exact) was used to rule them out as the murder, but were not provided to us in the case file. All in all, I would definitely recommend this game to others and have done so. Please upload more.
