How to play:
There is a lot of flexibility on how to play this game. You can play by yourself and solve the case in one night or spread out the fun and intrigue over time and work on the case at your leisure. You can take your time and spread out the fun over multiple nights – this is a challenging game.
Alternatively, you can host a party (or two or three) and solve the case as a group. There are two ways to play with a group:
- Work together as an investigative team. Don’t move on with the case unless everyone agrees or at least debates the issues until you have an agreement (or you agree to disagree).
- Work together on the investigation but have each player (or smaller teams of players) submit an individual guess of whodunit. The materials will be available to the group equally, but each player (or team) will take notes and come to conclusions independently. They can discuss the case, but with a competitive edge. You can declare winners after the solution is presented.
The game includes:
Video files
- Detective Chapman’s 48 hour video (round one)
- 11 Witness Interrogation videos
- Detective Chapman's 72 hour video (round two)
Online materials
- A password-protected website at YourMysteryParty.com containing additional evidence and links to the videos at Your Mystery Party

A great new game style!
Catch a Killer was the second game we've purchased from My Mystery Party, and it was by far our favorite! Being able to solve a murder on our time and without requiring everyone to participate/dress up was awesome! This mystery, in particular, was very challenging and will find you working hard to get all the details! I strongly suggest you use every bit of evidence available to you. Each item has information on it to help you understand the bigger picture! It was hard for us to decide WHEN to go from 48 to 72 hours, but I think once you are comfortable with several potential suspects, it is a good point to do that. There were a couple of details we were unsure about, and figuring how to tackle all the evidence was a little challenging, and we still have some questions that weren't really answered in the solution. Overall, we really loved this and look forward to the next one!

Fun, challenging murder case
This murder case was fun and challenging. It was a nice mix of clues and video interviews. You for sure need a group of people that are actually excited to play and have patience to go through all the clues. That being said it was engaging, fun, and a great challenge.

Enthusiastic Group Needed!
I played this with my family of 4. We very much enjoyed the plot. I would have liked to have had the work sheets located with the first round. The difficulty level is spot on. I would totally play this again with a group of people that are a little more enthusiastic about solving the mystery. It took us about 4 hours with 2 people playing. I look forward to more Catch a Killer stories! ---------------------------------------------- From MMP Staff: the worksheets were at the end of the file and we now see that looked like they belonged with Round Two. We've corrected that and placed them with the Round One materials. Thank you for your feedback! Can't wait for you to play again!

Amazing
This game was very well though out! It took my husband and I about 4ish hours to complete (food break included in that time) I really enjoyed the difficulty. It made for a fantastic date night in. I look forward to seeing what else is in store!

Fantastic!
Played this New Year’s Eve with 10 people and it was amazing!! The story and all the materials were super in depth and the video interviews were a nice touch, definitely one of the best murder mystery events I’ve hosted and everyone had a good time and loved it! Just difficult enough that we had multiple different guesses throughout but definitely not an impossible solve.

Challenging murder case!
We broke this out after opening presents on Christmas morning and played as a group. It made our casual gathering suspenseful and full of wonder. We talked in depth about the details of the case. The code was tricky. After round 1, we ate some more and cross referenced the suspects and evidence. Round 2 was shorter but we were motivated to bring justice to Abigail. It took us 5 hours to play but that's because we dragged it out. If you're hosting a formal event, I'm sure you can speed it up.
